Posted by http://www.nostalgoteket.se Footage of Raquel Welch being interviewed intercepted with shots of her on the beach etc and her version of Everybody's talking of me.
In 1970, Welch teamed up with Tom Jones and producer/choreographer David Winters of Winters-Rosen Productions for the TV special "Raquel!", considered by some viewers to be a classic pairing together of 1970s pop-culture icons in their prime. The multi million-dollar TV song-and-dance extravaganza was filmed around the world, from Paris to Mexico. The show featured lavish production numbers of classic songs from the era, extravagant costumes, and notable guest performances, including John Wayne and Bob Hope in the Wild West.

  • God, I love the 60` and 70` soooo much! I just adore those old times I don`t think (but still somehow hope) will ever come again. Everything was more modest and natural and true back then, Today, you have talentless young Hollywood stars who are afraid of going into sunlight without makeup and latest fashion on them. It`s sad, really. Oh, how I wish the good old times could come back! Those old hairstyles, lesser video quality, the voices of people, everything!

  • Young women had such lovely speaking voices back then. Now, they sound like ducks.

  • EASILY MOST BEAUTIFUL WOMAN IN HOLLYWOOD EVER AND SMART TOO..WOW TODAY SHE LOOKS INCREDIBLE AND SHE IS 70!!!!

  • I like it all so much, Raquel personality. Beauty. Voice. Footage. Montage. Spirit. Song. I would love so much to be able to listen this song on my mp3, sittin' in the park on spring time. Best cover of everybody talkin'. Such a dream.

  • @Rayarena Totally agree with you - she's the most beautiful American woman of the C20th, imo, although Ava Gardner in her prime was also incredible.

  • People seem to picture Marilyn Monroe as the American Sex Goddess/Symbol par excellence, but to me Raquel was that. Personally, I don't think that Marilyn could hold a candle to Raquel in the looks department. Marilyn made better pictures, she was involved with more interesting people, Joe DiMaggio, JFK, etc..and she died young. Perhaps that added to her mystic, but Raquel was probably the most beautiful American woman of the 1960's. She really captivated the mind of the American male.

  • @Rayarena But the basic principle is the exact same regardless of the amount of skin shown - which is selling sex for profit. The difference is essentially a superficial one (and not all of Playboy's centrefolds are fully nude either). It's also very interesting that a number of people famous for sexual liberation were raised in conservative religious households - Hugh Hefner being one of them.

That's one of the biggest fallacies: "everyone back in the 60s was natural and everyone now is fake". No. Welch was a natural beauty but she wore make-up, worked out to keep her body fit and toned, and kept up with the latest trends. Actresses then were more natural, but really that's because they didn't have the innovations in surgery we have now and used more painful measures to keep beautiful (read Judy Garland's story).
