Ocampo asked to provide more info on Kenya

Judges of the pre-trial chamber in the international criminal court finally delivered directions on a request by ICC prosecutor Louis Moreno Ocampo to investigate the post election killings in Kenya. The ICC judges have now directed Ocampo to furnish the court with information on the incidents that he is likely to investigate and the persons that are likely to be the target of the investigations. The judges also want Ocampo to provide information on any ongoing domestic investigations on the potential cases under consideration. Ocampo went to the pre-trial court late last year to formally seek permission to investigate the post election violence in Kenya. The move followed Ocampos fruitless visit to Kenya during which he failed to secure the concrete commitment of the Kenyan government on the handling of post election violence suspects. The pre-trial chamber is then expected to rule whether the ICC should investigate the Kenyan case
