He wasn't the host of Wheel of Fortune in 1976, that would be the legendary Chuck Woolery :D. Ed Kooky Burns only hosted the two pilots in 1974, but didn't get the job as final host (which probably happened because he admitted to being drunk in the pilot in his autobiography).
I though Wheel was a replacement for Jeopardy! which had one year remaining on its contract.
Wheel began broadcasting just after Jeopardy!'s last episode aired.

Wrong, there were three pilots. Shopper's Bazaar in 1973, and two pilots for Wheel of Fortune hosted by Burns in late 1974.

@GSNSmashFan3 Actually, he only hosted the second pilot. The first pilot (titled "Shopper's Bizarre") was hosted by Woolery.
