A film feature that Walt Disney himself made to send a message during World War II giving ideas on how to get directly to Japan to bomb it. Remember this is not how it all happened. This was meant to give ideas and sending a message rather than making people laugh. I think it is great.

Walt Disney Pictures and United Artist. 1942

  • The U-boat sheds remained practically untouched the entire war, no matter how many bombs got dropped on them.

  • @album183

Don't forget Hitler was fighting a war on two fronts, one against Britain and the Western Allies and another against the Soviet Union, the bombs at the time weren't very accurate, hence why you had the so called 1000 Bomber Raids, and even then more bombs missed their targets. The point I was making is that at the time the film was made the Luftwaffe was still at the peak of it's strength, especally in terms of fighters and interceptors and the Allies lacked a long range escort

  • @snakes3425 He wasnt refering to a bomber only strategy. He`s pointing out that bombers can destroy the military production facilities thereby making the enemy`s ground force weaker and less effective. Once acheived the land forces could move in for the kill at a savings in cost and lives.. Constant bombing from 1940-1945. Allies land at Normandy in June 1944, Then it only takes 11 months ( VS the then thought of years ) to finish Germany off with a ground war. Looks like it worked to me

  • Wow, Severski quoting Stanley Baldwin. This is fascinating because it's so political and takes an extreme view that proved not to be right, the bomber did not always get through and 1/3 of all allied casualties were bomber crews. Though it's popular to say "the atomic bomb ended WW2" it is more correct to say "The Soviets turning on Japan combined with the atomic bomb ended the war".

  • @Wunderwaffen1946 Wallace designed the 20,000lb Grand Slam first, then discovered the RAF couldn't carry it to any interesting target, so he made the Tallboy of 12,000lb. (56% casing weight). These being supersonic. Bomb aimers said it was more like shooting an arrow than droping a floopy bomb.

  • 1:10 to 1:30 The Brits actually did make a bomb like that (amor piercing rocket bomb), named (believe or not) the Disney Bomb, the designer and developer said he got the idea for it from this exact movie. And Wunderwaffen1946 is right the Brits (again) made bombs called Tallboy and Grand Slam, both earthquake bombs deployed at the end of the War (the one in the movie (1:35 to 2:20) looks just like them, just a bit fatter).

  • @54n141n3n The British made a line of them, Tallboy the killer of Tirpitz and the Grand Slam. and they worked.

  • Seversky's Bomber Only Stratagey would've worked had it not been for one slight thing, THE LUFTWAFFE WASN'T MADE UP OF JUST STUKAS!!!! many bomber crews can testify to that, and without fighter escorts the bombers were sitting ducks for ground-fire and Luftwaffe Fighters and radar equiped Nightfighters
