This is the unused side of a 1-sided laserdisc manufactured by Pioneer in Japan telling you that material is only on the other side. Discs made in the USA by Pioneer show the same picture with the English text "Program Material Is Recorded On The Other Side Of This Disc". I assume that's what the Japanese text here means.

Most of the US turtle sides run 5 minutes, or 9000 frames, but this one runs only 3 1/2 minutes and fades to black at the end. I've only included the first 15 seconds here to make things a little easier.

  • By the way I love how the corners of the picture are slightly dark- for the longest time I thought it was a problem with my TV, either insufficiently shielded speakers or just needing a good degaussing!

  • @AllisonTheSNLGuru Dude, Turtles ARE cute!

  • This NEEDS to be a T-shirt.

  • That turtle sure is happy for something that is surely going to get its guts eaten by the next vulture that happens by

  • @tkaye2: It doesn't look like film, it was probably a card shot with a video camera. Video cameras back then used tube-based image sensors (Vidicon, Plumbicon, Saticon, etc. - basically the inverse of a cathode ray tube TV), and these can have geometry or convergence issues in the corners of the picture.

  • I don't need to see this turtle's head, thank you kindly.....I already see it each morning, just after my first cigarette and initial attempt at reading the sports pages.

  • You're not the only one- he's adorable!
