Over 400 passionate people came to a town hall meeting in Annapolis on August 11 to urge the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to step up in the fight to Save the Bay.
Turnout for the event, organized by the Chesapeake Bay Foundation (CBF), Environment Maryland, and other groups, showed that public support runs high for an aggressive EPA approach. Audience members spoke passionately about the need for the federal government to lead the clean-up fight.
CBF President William C. Baker addressed the standing-room-only crowd, along with featured speakers Dr. Don Boesch, President, University of Maryland Center for Environmental Science; Rev. Rick Edmund, United Methodist Churches, Smith Island; Brad Heavner, State Director, Environment Maryland, and Chuck Fox, EPA Senior Advisor on the Chesapeake Bay.
