So very sorry to hear that! I just returned today from a little trip in the bus: Dover-Dunkerque-Brugges-St Valery sur Somme-Toulgate-Arromanches-Barfleur-Cherbourg-Poole-Gt Dorset Steam Fair. While the VW behaved, the weather didn't!

We're taking our 76 Westy through France, Switzerland and down to Lake Garda. Any tips???

Other than the obvious vehicle prep and breakdown cover etc my top tip is to smile VERY nicely at the Italian police at the Swiss border - they seem to dislike either Brits, VW buses or both!!!
Other than that, treat the VW with respect and relax - I'm sure you'll have a great trip :-)
