i learned how to do this..... his shoulders are definitly not past 90 and even if they are, its prolly jsut a simple mistake because when you perform it, you head should be looking down at the bottom of the pool, making it look like hes past 90 degrees
This is a legal turn, I've worked with Adam and he's done this turn for years and I did it for years before that. We teach all our college IMer's to do this turn.
The problem I think some people are having with this video is that the angle is deceiving, if you could see it from above you'd see his shoulders are not past 90. When taught and performed correctly it's completely legal and faster than an open turn.
If your all arguing about it why do it? Obviously something is wrong if this many people think something it is illegal and he needs to make it much clear he is doing the correct turn. What’s the point of dropping .1 of a sec if you get a big fat DQ for it?
turning 90* onto your side and beyond is 'illegal' the limit is 89*. The fact that he has past 89* prior to touching the wall makes this turn illegal, the rules are simple. Do this at your own risk, then again alot of top swimmers get away with murder at big competitions so why shouldnt you. I would not teach an illegal turn to my swimmers.
This turn is legal, but I wouldn't suggest it to 99% of swimmers as it is extremely easy to DQ. If you look close, though his hips are past vertical, his shoulders do not pass "vertical towards the breast."
HOWEVER, at full speed on race day I don't think it's implausible for an official to mistakenly DQ the swimmer here.

@XbabiXD too bad he wouldn't. It's legal as long as your hand touches the wall.

@XbabiXD No, the crossover turn is perfectly legal if done right.

His shoulders are way past the legal limit. Don't do it this way, you'll get dq'd for shure
