I warn people against importing this game. I got caught importing it and was subject to severe penalties and was prosecutedt to the full extent of the jam.

...No thanks. Can I have DoDonPachi 3?

this game is pretty fun i found it as i was browsing the mame titles, thought id give it a try. The last stage is kind of cool with the alien ship at the bottom of the ocean.

I love the music of the second level at 8:08 !!!

I know this game was never released outside of Japan, but for some odd reason I get a feeling of nostalgia whenever I look at this video. Somehow it reminds me of one of those puzzle games on a Neo Geo machine.

@SupremeJudge Supposedly yes. In Mame, if you have the Arcade History's dat activated, when you go to the "history" tab, there is a part where they tell about the "series" of each game. In the Uo Poko's history tab says (copy/paste):
- SERIES -
1. Uo Poko - Lots of Fish (1998)
2. Himitsu no Hana Poko
????
Thanks for your answer, and if you find anything, let me know. : )
Just started playing this recently and I'm hooked. VERY addictive game. I'd say this is equally as good as games like Magical Drop 3 and Puzzle Bobble. The 2 player co-op option is really fun and works well. I'd love to play the semi sequel to this, Mushihime Tama.

@merlin196 Ya it is a great game. I still have it in my collection and play it every so often. I've been trying to find the PCB for the sequel but it hasn't popped up lately. I'm guessing it's on Yahoo japan auctions though.

I love this game! I really don't know why. May be it's simplicity, graphics, music... It's addictive!
By the way, in Mame's Arcade History tab it says that there is a second part called "Himitsu no Hana Poko"... Anyone knows something about this?
I couldn't find any info, may be because it's in japanese...
Sorry for my english and thanks for the vid!

@G3DTrance Hmm, I tried translating that game name and it's something about Secret of the Flower Fish? something like that. Uo poko is roughly translated as "lots of fish".
But if there is a sequel to this game I'd love to play it. Was it an arcade release?
