Forest Gecko - Hoplodactylus granulatus

The Forest Gecko, also known as Long Toed Gecko. This gecko can change the intensity of its colours to blend into the background. It resides in the forest or scrub such as manuka and hides under logs, stones or the loose bark of trees. The Forest Gecko eats insects, nectar and the fruit of native trees. Like most New Zealand geckos it is primarily nocturnal and usually 2 and sometimes 3 young are born in autumn or early winter.
