Who's Cheating Who. ESA. ATOS Healthcare PART 1/3

Atos Healthcare has the £80million-per-year contract for 7 years to act for Department of Work & Pensions (DWP) to 'assess' sick people claiming Employment Support Allowance (ESA).
Atos have been working to the previous government's target of pushing 1 million claimants onto Jobseekers' Allowance, and there are some well-documented abuses of vulnerable individuals such as refusing to allow note-taking or tape-recording of the assessment, failing to report truthfully where the claimant has demonstrated incapacity, inadequate facilities for those who are ill during an assessment, a computer system which gives garbled versions of examinations to DWP and various other abuses.

The petition (to the two leaders of the coalition government) is:
We, the undersigned, call upon Mr Cameron and Mr Clegg to terminate Atos Healthcare's contract with immediate effect, to pay the enhanced rate to all claimants whose claim is over 13 weeks old and to pay basic rate ESA to all other claimants.

We call for a return to family doctors as the primary source of information as to whether an individual is too sick to work, not a profit-driven plc.

We further call for a new approach to the sick by government whereby such vulnerable people cease to be treated as 'scroungers' particularly when many of these individuals as taxpayers have paid into the NHS, in some cases for many years.

@Tarquinbeaniebaby I admire you, I do, but you really cannot speak for the whole of society and say absolutely everyone can work!! Mental health issues for example are SO misunderstood - if you're thinking about killing yourself every second of the day it stands to reason you can't get out there and hold down a job! For myself, all I ask is to be given time to recover. And FYI, I worked full time and NEVER claimed benefits from the age of 16 to 34 when everything started to cave in on me!

Holy sh*t, I paused the video and typed the comment below that I typed, I can't believe this guy didn't get a single point either, neither did I, and neither did any of my friends, 2 of which have schizoprenia and 2 who have legitimate back and knee problems. It proves that the DWP couldn't care less about us people who're really sick. So much for David Cameron saying the government would take care of us who suffer. I guess the rich get richer, the poor and disabled have to stuggle and suffer

I've been on disabilty benefits since 1998 because I was diagnosed with aspergers syndrome and tourettes. But with this new ESA benefit assessment, I paid £50 for my medical records and took my mum with me to the assessment and the medical professional didn't even read any of my medical records and didn't even listen to me. The report he wrote to the DWP was lies and I didn't even get 1 point. Now i'm being forced into work and i'm scared because i've been sacked from every job I ever had.

I was almost murdered in march....ATOS said i was fit for work LOL....pricks!

@Tarquinbeaniebaby I agree, there are is a minute minority in Britain who cheat the benefits system, including immigrants that make up the majority of the cheats. But, the majority of people who claim are genuine, and such a sad country we now live in where severerly disabled and mentally ill people are forced to kill themselves because of these scum who are on the same level as murderers.

It is so fustrating when i see comments like yours. It is only the cheats who make news headlines...
