Why is there no mention of the BSA folding parachute bicycles used by the raiders or of the fact that they landed 8 miles from the objective and cycled for a good part of an hour to get there? Anyone watching this would assume that they landed just a few hundred yards from the objective and walked there.

R.V. Jones, Secret War, probably one of the best technical reads you can find. It was shamefull that after the war was won and the danger was over, he was replaced by an "Expert" with the right academic qualification......... Typical stuffed shirt old boy mentality, thank god that war roots most of these fools out........

Took you at your word and sorted out a copy of R.V.Jones' book for myself.
Reading it now. Good call.

A lot of the archival footage and interviews shown here are recycled from the 1970's BBC Documentary Series named "The Secret War" after RV Jones' book. I have a copy of the series on VHS tape that has almost certainly deteriorated as I no longer have a VHS player and it's been in a box since the last time we moved house... Look it up if you can. It's narrated by Wiliam Woollard and Raymond "My wingman fired off a burst at the V2 as it went past. Fortunately he missed" Baxter ;-)

The raid took place in 1942, when the folding bike was not invented yet.... At this stage, Allied airborne techniques and equipment were only starting to mature, thus by 1944-45, such equipment like the folding bike were made available for Allied airborne troops....
