I also was 11 when he passed and i remember thinking "well this kind of sucks but it's not that big of a deal to me." As I grew older is when I really started realizing what an unbelievable loss the world had taken on August 16th 1977. His voice just grabs you and makes you realize how beautiful he was. My son's middle name is Presley. I went to Elvis candlelight 1997 to pay my respects.Wish I was mature enough at 11 to understand what we had lost. There will NEVER be another. RIP

I was 12 yrs old when he passed and I remember exactly where I was and what I was doing. I was at the public pool next door and laying in the sun on my towel, when on the radio they played, they stated "The late Elvis Presley". How we all just stared in disbelief, and people began to cry! Elvis you will always be the King and may you continue to RIP!

I dont even think MJ was on the same level as Elvis. Not only was Elvis the greatest entertainer to ever walk the planet (and probably the best there ever will be) he was a great person. So even if you dont admire Elvis as an entertainer, you have to admire him as a man and a person who came from humble beginnings. Elvis didnt seek fame or fortune, but he just naturally fit into it, and he took everyone he loved along for the ride and helped people out also. R.I.P (Rock in Peace) to a LEGEND!
