Its finally here. This is Septa Silverliner V number 802 the third and final pilot car to be delivered. It was delivered Friday, March 5th, 2010. The car gleams on the back of the Low-Boy as it is rolled towards the crane. The train will be in the shops about three hours after this shot was taken. Top Rotem executives can be seen early in the shot. The smile on their faces proves the pride they have for their vehicle.

  • New buses in 2008... New Silverliners that are going to be used sometime this year or next year (I assume)... What are they gonna replace now. The Adtranz M-4s? XD

  • @DeltaPhi79 the M-4s arent going anywhere any time soon. I would bet the Broad Street line cars are the next to go. Septa has another bus order in at the moment for delivery of complete hybrid buses in 2011 to replace the Articulated Neoplan buses. The prototype can bee seen running on the 125 bus route. Look it up DL40LFR

  • @xdaftpunkedx Oh yeah... I forgot about the B.S.S.... I haven't found any results for that bus model you mentioned... o_o''.

  • @DeltaPhi79 Im sorry i gave you the wrong designation look for the SEPTA DE40LFR

  • the strips look corney and the trucks look like they cant take a lot of wear-n-tear

  • @gjeomegjerome17 well supposedly those trucks are an upgrade of the design on the 50 year old Budd Silverliners that are still in service the only difference is the addition of the brake discs outside of the wheels. Those trucks are already proven reliable.

  • @xdaftpunkedx correct. the BSL cars are due to be replaced by 2015. under FRA regulations rail cars must be a minium of 30yrs old before they can be replaced.

  • Whomever initially suggested these new trains looks like an oversized subway train is right.

After years of riding the El from 11th street to Millbourne & 69th street, these new trains look like oversized El cars.

On the other hand, it is about time SEPTA upgraded their fleet............not to mention, sadly, their fares. We have on the most expensive public transport systems in the country, and what do we get in return? New trains, yes, but miserable employees who make the ride "interesting."

  • @xdaftpunkedx Wow lol. They look like the trackless trolleys.

  • @xdaftpunkedx they arent prtotypes anymore these buses are in service for delaware county suburban routes

  • @jec20721 Haven't heard of the test train breaking down ever since they started running them.
