because i t has 3g capability bc 3g only refers to the network (for phone calls and internet) not the phone.

2g stand for 2nd generation 3g stands for 3rd generation and the 3g on the sim is the internet that at&t provides

....2g / 3g stands for the type of network that the phone is on...not for the generation of the phone itself... "3G or 3rd Generation, is a family of standards for mobile telecommunications defined by the International Telecommunication Union," it refers to the generation of cellular wireless standards.

When I bought my iPhone 3g it didn't come with a sim card removal tool and the paper clip worked perfect for me ;)
