  • Which mercury magnetics choke did you use? The 10H or 3H version?

  • @visceralvideos A/B'd them both, went with the 3H.

  • Do you happen to know which ECC83s would replace the pre amp section of the JVM 210H ? I looked inside and there are 2 with a 00055 and 3 with 00067 numbers in it. One of the 00067 has a cup cover in it. They come with a Marshall logo, but I wonder if you know the brand. Shuguang doesn't make ECC83s ??

  • @dekzan Any 12ax7 or ECC83 tubes will work. You want something with low microphonics in the V1 position. I use all Electro Harmonix 12ax7's in my preamp section, and think they work well in this amp, but that's just my preference.

  • Thanks. I just brought home a new JVM 210H. Do these tubes come in the amp from the factory? Can u please, give more details? Is SED a tube brand?

  • @dekzan Yes, SED is the manufacturer and they came in the amps from the factory. Do a search on SED Winged C.

  • @dekzan Most of the guys I know that have tried other output tubes (including myself) keep going back to the SED Winged "C" EL34's. They seem to bring out the best in this amp.

  • These amps will probably sound better with KK66s ??

  • @utubefloyd

actually having a choke would have less compression since having a resistor as an inductor is what will give you sag. Chokes do not sag.

  • @utubefloyd - hmmmmm, I would say compression depends on the resistance of the choke - or the resistor. What I can hear when I replace a 470 Ohm resistor with a choke of 5 Henry and maybe 200 Ohms is - the choke filters out hum much better and gives more power/higher voltage to the amp. If you tried the 20 Henry choke - I'm sure there's more compression with this one. Remember that Robbne Fords Dumble has the resistor in the same place of the power supply to get more compression and sag! greets
