Martin Blythe Arranges And Peforms Chet Atkins I Still Can't Say Goodbye.

This Is For Anyone Who Loves or Misses Their Papa

When I was young my dad would say
Come on son let's go out and play
Sometimes it seems like yesterday

I'd climb up the closet shelf
When I was all by myself
Grab his hat and fix the brim
Pretending I was him

CHORUS

No matter how hard I try
No matter how many tears I cry
No matter how many years go by
I still can't say goodbye

He always took care of mom and me
We cut down a Christmas tree
He always had some time for me

Wind blows through the trees
Streetlights they still shine bright
Moon still looks the same?
But I miss my dad tonight

Stopped by a Salvation Army store
Saw a hat like my daddy wore
Tried it on when I walked in
Still trying to be like him

No matter how hard I try
No matter how many tears I cry
No matter how many years go by
I still can't say goodbye

  • 1. is it difficult to learn?

2 do you need the capo to play this song?

    keep it up

  • @Breiavis This track is not too hard to play. Just follow the chord progression and the melody is based around it. There is a section where I move up a few frets to get the higher pitched notes and another where I tap a string. I'm sure you will be fine with this track though. The capo is not essential but if you want to play in the original key of Amajor, you either need to transpose the chords up two semi-tones or use a capo. My root chord is Gmajor with the capo on 2nd fret

  • Martin,

Not only you are a good musical talent, you are also very considerate; for adding the lyrics of this great song by my hero, Chet Atkins.

Every time I hear this song, the tears run down my eyes because of my realtionship with my late dad. I am 64 now but I still miss him.

Take care of your loved ones and keep up with that guitar playing !!.
