  • this test is a waste of time

  • @kooziejr This test has been described as part of the Lumbar Instability Test Cluster identifying patients that have a higher chance of success with core stabilization exercises [Fritz, JOSPT, 2007]. 1 of the 5 variables was a positive ASLR, Posterior Pelvic Pain Provocation, and Modified Trendelenburg Tests in post partum patients. It has a positive likelihood ratio between 18-60 which is very good and substantial reliability (Kappa 0.63). [Albert, Eur Spine Journal, 2000)

  • @S9KSY this test is a waste of time anyway

  • Examiner must be holding hand of patient for 2 reasons:

1- Safety. Avoid falling of the frail weak people. Common if Trendelenberg is positive.

2- And MOST IMPORTANTLY. If the examiner feels that the patient is exerting pressure on the ipsilateral hand, Trendelenberg'll be positive. The amount of pressure will determine exactly the amount of abductor weakness. Patients may manage to stop hip from sagging by using abdominal muscles. By using the hand method, you won't miss any abductor weakness
