Beautiful music
Dangerous rhythm

It's something daring, the Continental
A way of dancing that's really ultra new
It's very subtle, the Continental
Because it does what you want it to do

It has a passion, the Continental
An invitation to moonlight and romance
It's quite the fashion, the Continental
Because you tell of your love while you dance

Your lips whisper so tenderly
His eyes answer your song

Two bodies swaying, the Continental,
And you are saying just what you're thinking of
So, keep on dancing the Continental
For it's a song of romance and of love

You kiss while you're dancing
It's continental, oh oh oh, it's continental
You sing while you're dancing
Your voice is gentle, oh oh oh, and sentimental

You'll know before the dance is through
That you're in love with him and he's in love with you

You'll find while you're dancing
That there's a rhythm in your heart and soul,
A certain rhythm that you can't control
And you will do the Continental all the time

Beautiful music
Dangerous rhythm
Beautiful music
Dangerous rhythm
The Continental

  • Also a more recent French version by Laura Fygi from 2007 on an album called Rendez Vous

  • For French version try Jean Sablon or for an instrumental version Jean Paques

  • Always loved this version - used to play it on my record player all the time. Excellent!

  • NECRO!!! Beautiful Music. Thumbs up if that brought you here.

  • Good, but this is Ginger's song.

  • i luv this song....maureen does a superb job na:-)

  • I remember this song (before I even heard of Fred & Ginger) in the seventies as a child and fell in love with it. So evocative even then, at the age of six, of a bygone era. Now my own little girl loves it...

  • @Zathras01 I heard a great modern recording in French while I was in a speaker shop in Japan...I had just arrived in the country so my Japanese was very poor and I couldn't get the name of the singer...I have a feeling I'll die without learning who it was...

  • Oh my goodness me! Thank you for this post! I used to ask Daddy to "put the bubble song on", the champagne cork popping at the beginning just got me like I was five years old again - pure nostalgia! THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!

  • Aside from Ginger, Maureen really hits it across the park. Thanks, Maureen.
