  • Chicago Tribune, 1 April 1998,

"For many years now, I have been an outspoken supporter of civil and human rights for gay and lesbian people. Gays and lesbians stood up for civil rights in Montgomery, Selma, in Albany, Ga. and St. Augustine, Fla., and many other campaigns of the Civil Rights Movement. Many of these courageous men and women were fighting for my freedom at a time when they could find few voices for their own, and I salute their contributions."

    Coretta Scott King

  • It is so pathetic to see people rallying to support hate when the very groups that they are now protesting for would have worked just as hard to deny many of them the right to vote as they are now working to deny other Americans the right to marry the person whom they choose to marry.

  • @criscoxxx "Marriage is not a religous tradition. It is the name given to a special relationship between two people"

If religion named the relationship between a man and a woman, what right does the Government have,to use that name to define a relationship between gays?

If i want to use the label "Nike" in a video i would need to receive permission from the existing registered company that has that name.

Did any religion give the government permission to use the name "Marriage" for gay couples?

  • @criscoxxx Marriage has been a religious tradition ever since history has been recorded. Even tho its rules and ceremonies varied from culture to culture, that doesn't change the fact that until recently marriage was initiated by a religious ceremony. It became non religious when the separation of church and state occurred in some countries.

Therefore its safe to say that the tradition of marriage has been hijacked from religions, by the government.

  • @Hidframe Marriage is not a religous tradition. It is the name given to a special relationship between two people. Non believers are legally married arn't they. And what about gay marriages in other countries?

  • @johnny2rios Hahaha. That would have been a good counter rally. Just stand in the middle of the crowd and yell "IMMIGRATION!!!!" I say that as someone who whole heartedly understands why foreigners attempt to come here and stay here illegally. It is much safer and more stable here, but just to see them all running away for fear of deportation would have been incredibly ironic, since the very party their supporting is so anti-immigration reform.

  • Full respect to everyone out there who is still fighting to protect marriage from dickheads that try to change it. Marriage is a RELIGIOUS tradition, therefore religion representatives should have the right to accept or deny changing it. Not corrupt governments!

  • @johnny2rios So you speak against the discrimination of gays and you discriminate against Mexicans at the same time?

  • Where are all the protests to bann shellfish eating??? Not one. What a bunch of losers standing in the rain trying to make sure gays are discriminated against. Mostly illegal mexicans most likely. Scumbags!

  • I would have loved the U.S. Immigration Service to have been there rounding up all the illegal immigrants and shipping them out of there. What a bunch of slimebags. Hey Ruben, I found your crackpipe!
