Just one example: I prefer Steve Vai to Paul Gilbert. Vai seems to be a soulful musician who can do just about anything. Gilbert was and will always be a RACER X speed kills guitar player with an awful singing voice. He is also not much of a songwriter so he has a way to go. He certainly plays fast.

@eqsmooth - He can't express his opinion? I have to agree with the "no feel" comment he made about Gilbert. Jeff Berlin, the best bass player in the world, and my favorite, played with paul gilbert too. Should I like him because of that and say "he's great"?
I'm not saying he's a shitty guitar player: shredding, tapping, whammy baring guitar playing just bores me.
Gilbert leaves me cold too - just my opinion. But if some people enjoy listening to him, great!
Simon is a fantastic player.

Always guys like mafia killer who talk shit like this and fancy themselves mixed martial arts cage fighters. Too many assholes on this planet. I've seen Paul Gilbert a few times and he shreds. If Simon agrees to play with him then he is probably great. There is no one on the planet that can play drums like Simon. I saw him in 1981 with Jeff Beck and also met him at clinics. He's an affable guy too. I was blown away. Just sick skills in all areas; recording technology, drum tuning, song writing
