Michael Tait is the New Lead Singer for The Newsboys?! Really?!

Guess you were wrong... Just saw their show in Ottawa last week and they rocked the place!! They were incredible!! Michael Tait is bringing a new groove to the band... yes it is different, no it's not a bad thing! God had this figured out and knew what the outcome would be... Glory to God in all things. :)

@lyndalaj I don't disagree with anything you said, and never did. They are amazing, and Tait is as excellent as expected. But I still say there is a cognitive dissonance to referring to them as "Newsboys". It really should be a different band and brand.

@pastordice All I am saying is who are we to judge? Unfortunately, like for most bands (christian or not), fans tend to identify the band with the lead singer... but a band is so much more than just the lead singer! Jeff, Duncan and Jody are the newsboys just as much as Peter was. Why wouldn't they have the right to keep their band name? Especially since 3 out of 4 band members are still IN the band. It's unfortunate for these guys... if not a bit disrespectful, don't you think?

@lyndalaj Again, I agree. I never questioned their right to keep the name only the wisdom in doing so.  I mean no disrespect to them, just wondered if they would have been better served to choose a new name for this new band. Personally, after hearing and loving the new stuff, I'm not sure it mattered one way or the other.

You are so right. It would have made better sense to ask Phil Joel back, even if it was temporary until they could find a permanent replacment. It's not because i don't like Michael Tait because he's really a talented guy. I can see new material working but the classic newsboys songs don't fit His well defined sound and vice versa. It's like a Vegas wedding that should be anulled. Mike is awesome in "Tait" and it fits like a glove. Newsboys have a distict sound. Bring back John James!

So basically everyone is probably going to jump all over me for saying this, so people chill out it is MY opinion!

I do not like Tait, I haven't since I first saw him in concert. I got the impression that he was a little pompous. He did bizarre dance moves and he pretty much creeps me out. I don't really like his voice either, and I cannot see it going with the newsboys at ALL. I was really hoping they would bring back Paul or Phil Joel, but I know it isn't my decision. Again, just my thoughts.

Umm. Okay. Christians are a different breed. We don't care who gets the glory. First, listen to an interview. And then make a statement. Does it even matter what it's called. You are pretty much wrong. Tait is an amazing singer and performer with energy. God gets the glory dude.

@mobundick: I totally agree. I saw him and I was sitting in the front row, he was sooo pompous. Sorry to you all who disagree, but it's sooo true. He was just staring at me, the whole time, I was really creeped out. I want Peter Furler back!

Maybe they should also get T-Mac and Kevin Smith, then DC Talk can get back together, only with ex-newsboys members! BTW....what about John James? He should come back too.
