Connecting with community -- Geoff Samek and the Sacramento Press online

Geoff Samek spent part of a decade working in the software and tech industries in southern California and the Bay Area. But then he moved near his hometown with a new idea -- start a local online news community for Sacramento, Calif. Samek describes the unique efforts by his Sacramento Press (started with a partner) to sponsor events, meetings and other face-to-face training to build community online. It's a recipee that's starting to work for the for-profit. Samek talked with the Media Giraffe Project's Bill Densmore at the Journalism That Matters-Detroit convening June 5, 2010.
