@MattOGormanSmith I would wish for a better ratio of success to failure, if you catch my drift.
I am free of useless sacrifice of those who have reached the level of "Astronaut" for mere statistics.
My point here is I believe that the life of an Astronaut is worth more than the research dollars spent and the potential gains.

@bobster451 Mike Mulane's book, Riding Rockets talks about the problems with the Shuttle. Hopefully, as you suggested, there will be a better way to get us into space.

Yes, but more than 100 crews didn't die. That's pretty good odds for exploring. The cost of operations is the STS's big problem.

THis technology is awesome!
Sad to see the shuttle going away, yet it is understandable. I mean two full crews of astronauts died in accidents.
We need a new technology for space travel.
