(sorry for the background noise, was boiling hot outside and I needed my rickety old air con on)

There's a big stigma in the western world about gay men working with children. I received an email from a 19 year old gay guy who's considering a career path in primary school education, but he's a bit worried about this attached stigma.
Studying Education at Uni myself, it's something I can relate to.

  • I'm assuming that you're openly gay at your university. Has there been much apprehension from other students going into teaching an the professors that tutor you if/when they found out you were gay? And was there any trouble when deliberating what school to place you in for intern-ship because of your sexuality?

  • @JadeLycra2 I don't deny it, no. But whether that means everyone can just 'tell' or not, I'm not sure. I've had no apprehension what so ever, and I'm rather convinced at least one of my tutors himself was gay.

  • Dude u are SO hot it's UNBELIEVABLE I swear to god!

  • @00Yarko baha thanks man

  • uhm... can I just sat that you're gorgeous? ahaha x)

  • @frankie997 naw thanks frankie

  • My senior year we found out my drama teacher was gay in high school after a friend saw him and his husband coming out of a movie theater holding hands or something. But since we all had a ton of respect for him no one dared spread it around or make jokes. One of the freshmen actually mouthed off about him behind his back and called him f*g and all of us jumped on her for it. If the students respect the teacher enough I don't think sexuality will be a big issue.

  • So true and thank you for all ur videos I am studying to become a high school teacher and this video helps

  • I don't think I ever had a homosexual teacher, but that's because I was raised thinking "straight" was the default position.

Truth is, all of my teachers could have been homosexual, or none of them could be. But it doesn't matter because apart from 1 or 2, they were all awesome and I love the memories of each and every one of them.

  • I had a gay Biology teacher in high school. He was open about his sexuality and no one expressed negative feelings that I am aware of. He was well respected and I'm glad I met him.

Oh and for the record my first impression of you is that you were fairly straight but that's because most people are programed to notice old fashioned standards of what males are including me (I've been programed too) and I'm not complaining, I'm just noting.

  • @14kcaz Don't do anything with him because sometimes people are misinterpreted.

  • my european history teacher was gay and he is one of the most intelligent, intellectual, well-respected, and loved teachers at my school... no one has ever made any hateful comments to him, to my knowledge, at least. it seems to me that in high school, at least where i live, most kids just live and let live. he's actually pretty open about it and has a partner and adopted son. no one really has a problem with it. he's a great teacher and thats that

  • can you make a hair tutorial??? ur hair is bommmbb!!!

  • can i ask for advice from anyone who views this comment: well basically its a gay teacher at my school and everyone knows he's gay for the most part and the other just question his sexuality. i think he is really cute and so does my best friend. she bet me a hundred dollars to "try something" with him after school. which is number one kind of weird but i dont mind because hes adorable and i wanted to do it anyway. hes like 24 or 25. periodically i catch him starring at me. what should i do?

  • Your accent is the best. Just saying. : )

  • Seriously in this day and age, being a gay man and a teacher the school won't really care, it won't even come up in the interview. The school Principle isn't going to ask if you're gay. We had a couple gay teachers at my school and they were some of the funniest, smartest and most helpful teachers and I went to an all boys, anglican private school. And everyone thought they were great. Like anything it's a business and a workplace. Keep your private life out of your work place and you'll be fine

  • What if a student from your school see's these videos? what if a parent?
