This is not sex drugs or Rock n Roll but a journey into contentedness - the Public Symphony entry for the Radar Music Festival.
The concept was to produce a music promo without the usual "every second shot lead singer posturing" etc. And to produce without any actual film footage.
However, mainly in the 'bubble world' sequences, I would have liked to include some Green Screen footage promised by the band but unfortunately it didn't get to me prior to the deadline.
So the whole vid is produced from animating stills using a combo of Photoshop, After Effects and Avid/Premiere Pro. The initial idea was to run with the branding utilised on the artwork for the album cover and flesh out a theme of Mr Benn going behind the curtains to discover a whole new world. (Inspiration from the Public Symphony website) So we have our Shadow Man who enters his own '21st Century Psychedelic World' via the 'Tower', which after he opens the curtains (a nod to the original Mr Benn here) he is taken on a journey where he can Rise and Shine in a day of contentedness. This is not sex drugs or Rock n Roll but a journey into contentedness

  • What a great promo for a great song. And with some fantastic animation that is different than anything I've seen before.

Completed with no budget, how do you do it?

Keep up the great work nigeyB.

  • How cool is this wow!!!

  • awesome

  • Cool Vid Man! love it.

  • Hey NigeyB I believe that if you had combined this with the bands footage it would easily have won this contest.

Hey take heart nearly 500 views, a genuine 4 star rating and really good comments from people who you never know might see how talented you are and give you the break that you obviously deserve. If anyone is reading this visit this guys YouTube page it'll show you just how talented a film maker and animator that he really is.

    Thnx

  • Hey it seems to me that all the entrants with the chroma-key footage came in well after the original deadline. Don't concern yourself too much we all think it's a fantastic piece of work, the animation is truly breathtaking at times and considering you entered at the original deadline and the guys at Public Symphony didn't send you the green screen footage

  • Hey NigeyB just found out that you're not the winner, and no I don't get it either the winner appears to have got it on the basis of some half decent animation (yours is truly so much better) but more importantly because they used the band in the promo. It's a real pity that you didn't receive the green screen footage, how many times did you contact them about it? Thought you said it was 3 or 4 at the last count and then you hit a deadline of which was extended!

  • This is excellently done.

  • Very Interesting, Innovative and well worth watching.

  • Wow really impressed, is this band on myspace? must go and check them out. The animation is cool too, truly original and engaging.

    BTW who's Mr Benn?

  • Hey NigeyB you've done it again. How the hell do you do it "One man a bedroom a PC and some software" Great results just imagine what you could do with a bit of time eh! What's the tally now I make it about 12 completed films and all done without a budget! I'll say it again How do you do it?

(Hope you don't mind me commenting? :-)
