Every inch of this beautiful Organ was painted to match the frescoes on the walls of this Church. The identity of the builder is unknown, but it was built around 1735 and had some interventions dated on 1867 and 1890. It has 12 registers or stops, 6 for each hand and one Toy stop. On the left: Bajoncillo, Diez y Novena, Octava, Flautado de 6, Veinte y Docena, Quincena and Bardón. On the Right: Trompeta en Batalla, Octava 1a., Flautado II, Bardón, Flautado de 6, Docena and Octava II. The Toy Stop is known as Pajaritos (Little Birds). It was restored by Maestra Susan Tattershall, the case by Maestra Mireya Olvera. The piece you hear is called Pange Lingua de 5o. tono, of Pablo Bruna, played by the Frech Organist Dominique Ferran on this very Organ. • Tghis is wonderful and amazing! Thankyou very much!

Is the old blowing apparatus still operational?

  • Thank you for your visit and comment. Indeed, this Organ was fully restored to its old glory, the piece you hear in the background was played in it, as part of a CD made by the French Organist Dominique Ferran. I'm still trying to match my visits with a concert that is regularly offered, and I'll post the material as soon as It becomes available. Greetings. ♪♫

Cordiales Saludos.

  • To add to what BnZunni replied: you can see the old bellows with the long handle to the right side of the organ in the photos in the video. This is still operational, but there is also an electric blower as an alternative wind supply.

  • The front pipes are the "Flautado de 6." The stoplist is given by BnZunni in the "more info" dscription above, in English and Spanish. The IOHIO web site, also in the description, has more information and pictures, including other organs with faces on the pipes.

  • Another question! Please, where can I find the stop specification?

Are the front pipes with the faces (I've NEVER seen anything to match that little conceit) speaking pipes?

What a wondeful instrument, tonally and visually!

Saludos. ♪♫
