@soilworked86 some how this all makes sense

@Arias3523Ram Yeah before Guliani cleaned everything up. That city was so trashed and crime filled before him. Now it's better than it's ever been.

Yup, I am native New York and its sad. I live in Brooklyn now. I'm young and I value its history and culture. Its sad to watch. Everyone must read Jane Jacobs "The Death and Life of Great American Cities"

The only thing that hit QUeens was mega immigrants. Id rather be surrounded by immigrants than transplanted trustafarians.
Real new yorkers have parents in NYC before the heroin epidemic or crack.
When shit calmed down and crime rates decreased, people flock to new york like flies to shit.
Native New Yorkers know what time it is.

great video!! short & clear message.. is from Nov 2007.. so what's the situation now.. has it stagnated, better, or worse?
I've never been to NYC.. the only spot in North America where I touched the soil was LAX.. changing Lan Peru for Air New Zealand. I don't even dare to admit to my crime here haha.. we had 3 hrs to kill, there was nothing else to do, so we were hanging around at Starbucks!! sipping cappuccinos.. imagine when you're just post 4 months South America on 99% Nescafe only!

Don't worry. Now that the financial industry is crumbling before our eyes, every person worth a damn who ever migrated to NY to work in this sector will leave thus allowing the city to revert back to the crime-ridden shit hole you miss so much.

it's for nothing but this city is digging its own grave now that the economy is collapsing
NYC has been changing conssitently since it was stolen from the Natives. When was the city ever having a consistent culture for more than ten years? Things change. It is the pattern of all major civilization capitals since Jordan, Jerusalem, and Yemeni. Humans want what they hesitate to work for.

It's the first time in history that globalization has had an impact on major U.S. cities.

New York had a lot of character way before Dinkins was in office. Since the late Nineties it has become safer, but the soul is fading away due to the expansion of chain stores like Starbucks, Dunkin' Donuts, and Jamba Juice. Why visit New York City as a tourist if they have the same stores in their own cities? It's boring, it's cloned.

NYC is turning into another boring shithole with the same stupid places. Why would someone come to NYC when they can go to Mcdonalds and Walmart at home? Nothing exciting about the city anymore.

It is boring. National Geographic Traveler just published an article about "The Real New York" and what's left of it. Places like Keen's Steakhouse, one of the last of the Mohicans.
Unfortunately, the young generation doesn't respect the history of New York City. They prefer Starbucks and Pink Berry chain stores. Just take a walk to St. Mark's place, these so called punk rockers buying Pink Berry.
