  • Can you tell me of laptop,

Is gaming laptop or normal laptop?!

  • @Qillaq91 Neither Qillaq91. There are many types of laptops, this one is neither gaming or "general purpose", but it is a mobile workstation class laptop. Work oriented, like Thinkpads, probooks, and macbook pro's(professional). This 8540W carries within a graphics card specializing in CAD (computer aided design) excelling especially when working on 3d models in wireframe mode, and when working with vectors objects.

  • although i know this is a workstation class laptop could you possibly use this for some moderately heavy gaming? i play a lot of modern warfare 2 and starcraft 2 but also do a lot of photo and video work and i was wondering if this laptop could handle those games with high settings at max screen resolution

  • @streetlegend21 I play SCII on it. Today I noticed a bit of lag in a 3v3 match for the first time, settings medium, using my monitor with the 880M. Model details on high I think caused the lag when someone came at the main defense with a ton of maxed out carriers and mutas. Didn't crash, it slowed down the templar micro though. Most the time the game runs very well. I'm unable to play Rift right now, i'm in touch with support, likely card or driver, hope for a solution or use another rig.

  • @C734T1V3V1510N I have a solution to rift (new high graphics MMO) situation, and it's working pm me for more details.

  • Hey i was just wondering how's the heat dissipation, is it hot after using it for hours ?

As i'm considering between a Dell 4500M or a HP EliteBook 8540w Laptop...

  • @MushroomHoneyCream Heat is handled very well on my machine. It never gets hot on my wrists or on my lap or on a glass table. I have noticed the bottom can get hot on a bed, but it hasn't gotten super hot on me. I think the elitebooks have been designed for heat dissipation with various graphic cards and processors so I feel it's strong in general. My gpu is the 880M, and processor dual core i7 920. Heat is handled well with this build. Heat would also depend on configuration.
