I was there!..i watched this live and was in total shock! Maurice is amazing, and he's still doing great things @ FSU as well...wow!..I'll look for him the the olympics
I assume this is derek blevins' channel. I ran at Fort Osage and graduated in '08. If i'm not mistaking you are the guy who is like godly at the long and triple.
I'm Derek's dad and you are correct about Derek. He is actually the #2 triple jumper at Raytown South right now. A sophomore, Marquis Cushon, jumped just over 50' at Excelsior Springs on Friday. That is 2nd best in the nation this year. Derek strained his hamstring in the 2nd meet of the year and has been resting it. He has signed to run track at The Ohio State University next year. Are you running track in college?
I always found that funny too. RS third leg was just a sophmore at the time. In this video he gets smoked but Im share he will get MUCH faster.... good heritage (Barry Sanders)
Actually, that is not Sanders (nephew to Barry Sanders). The coach pulled sophomore Alex Sanders and gave that leg to Jones because he was a senior. If they would have left Sanders in Raytown South could have set a new state record in prelims and finals. That relay with Sanders had already passed the state record several times. Those 4 guys recorded the fastest time in the U.S. earlier in the spring in the Sprint Medley relay. They blew Hazelwood East's doors off in the finals.
