The London leg of Ben Sherman's VIP Launch Tour in aid of Trekstock that took place on May 12th 2011, was a massive success! A crowd of over 500 people packed themselves into east London's XOYO nightclub for the launch of the Very Important Plectrums.
With an exhibition of some of the finest plectrums donated by many of the world's most esteemed artists and 6Music's vivacious Huey Morgan hosting the evening, the VIP message was spread and the atmosphere was electric.
Huey kicked off the evening by introducing an amazing an soulful acoustic set from Kill it Kid, followed by the man they'd all come to see, Mos Def. Despite keeping the patient crowd waiting whilst the Clash DJ's did a great job of keeping spirits up, once on stage Mos Def did not disappoint. In an extended set he belted out many of his biggest numbers as well as several from his Black Star collaborative that had the entire room jumping until close to midnight, when the venue shut its doors.
The VIP Launch Tour then moved on to Berlin where the event was headlined by The Rifles and after that, New York where Talib Kweli headlined the event in aid of LifeBeat.
