Also known as the Tiger Orchid, it is most probably the largest orchid in the world.
It is found growing very high up on very large trees along riverbanks. Most of them flowers once in ten years. Growing in our home in Klang is easy. The video was shot when one of our plant produced seven spikes resulting in 468 flowers. Fruits were also produced.
This videoclip was shot in HD and you can see it growing in various stages such as its growth, plant size, roots, growing medium, spikes, flowers and finally the fruit.

  • Is the giant orchid sympodial or monopodial?

  • @CutestPerson

It is a sympodial epiphytes with very vague pseudobulbs

and new growth always arises from a basal bud.

  • Where to obtain seeds for flasking?
