I never knew that Don McLean covered this tune. I first became aware of the song when Nazareth recorded it; but the vocals just didn't seem--just a bit too much angst, I suppose. Don's versions is MUCH more laid-back and introspective--I think that the song is finally done justice...thanks so much for posting; I'm looking forward to your next Don McLean post...!!!

I grew up with the Everley Bros version, but Don's rendition is the best I've heard.
