  • it s clear for me you have a lot o experience. i hope you will make more educative videos about how to fix a electron tube radio receiver. all the best :)

  • Thanks buddhafollower

At this point I have uploaded 212 videos and most are about fixing radios and electronic stuff.

  • That really came out good! That seems like a really complicated repair job on the grille cloth. Seems strange though that there is no volume control, is this maybe so people wouldn't turn down the volume all the way but leave the power on and run out the batteries?

  • This radio has been a real challenge. This is the first time that I had a radio with the grille cloth glued to the front board, and glued and nailed two boards on top of the grille cloth. What a pain. The temple was the only way I could figure out how to make the new cloth look good on the first try. This is also the first radio that I can remember that did not have a volume control. And it's so weird that it has a tone control.

  • Rick,

Good vid, but you stole my thunder. Oh well, you snooze, you lose.

Now that the ole Airline is finally good to go, I should have enough time to begin replacing the speaker cloth on my Silvertone console and post a vid about it. I'll be attempting a different method. Hopefully, it'll work. Stay tuned.

How about a radio alignment vid...from how to attach the sig gen to the final coil adjustment?

    Regards,

    John

  • Hey John,

    Well, I'm an honest theft.

I am really glad that the Airline is repaired and that you are now happy with it. And I did consult the Digital Fun Meter.

Each radio presents unique problems that require different solutions. I think that is why I like this hobby, each radio is different.

    Best regards,

    Rick

  • @AllAmericanFiveRadio I have been collecting tube radios for over 40 years but would NEVER have dreamed on working on them till now. As a beginer, you have a real good "radios for dummies". I still don't get about 10% but you do a great job. Thanks

  • ok thanks

  • This cloth is new. It a heavy weave and very high quality. I bought it from Grillecloth Headquarters.

  • Thanks Mr. M

  • I will certainly ask him and be glad to make a video for them.
