SF4 Guile Tutorial: Basics Boot Camp

This is a video I thought needed to be made. I know how hard it is to get into this game especially if you have no clue how to start playing particular characters so I made a short video that will help people who are just starting to learn Guile and this game for that matter. If you are a vet and know SF then you probably know a lot of these things already, but if you are just getting into the game then this is a good starting point. Hope you guys enjoy! guile is best used has a heavily defensive zoning/spacing character if you get semi-agressive with guile vs and decent competition you will get torn apart guile only has 2 maybe 3 offensive options and you will get telegraphed and punished hard trying to get froggy with guile. but good video other wise

Now see, this a a very common misconception about Guile IMO. Guile is only a "heavily defensive zoning/spacing character" IF played that way. I think that playing Guile as heavily defensive in certain match up puts Guile at a disadvantage. Guile doesn't have as many offensive options as other characters in the game, this is true, but where he lacks in options, the player must make up for in execution and knowledge of match ups.

@chirrr Two of the best Guile players out right now, GeoM MoDInside and Dagger_G, both play very aggressive Guile's and they are very good at it. I've played GeoM for close to 20 or so matches and his Guile is an exact representation of what a semi-aggressive Guile looks like. I suggest you looking up some vids of Dagger_G and GeoM on youtube because they will change your mind about how you feel he should be played. Thanks for watching! And thanks for the feedback!

@SonicFlash122 yo you should of done some corner BNB, i need to know some corner bnb if you could help out, i try to do j.hp c.mp sonicboom c.mp sonicboom etc, but i can't get it done... sonic boom never comes out, whats wrong wit me!!

@Guergy For the shotos, the ebst thing you could do is wait for a moment to strike or space yourself out. If they get close just do a few sonic booms or hit then with a flash kick. Its all about spacing.

@badoofus Thanks and as for the shotos, I eamn those that can actaully use th characters well instead of spamming.

@Guergy 1. Do you mean like shotos that can combo really well or ones that just turtle and do hadoukens and shoryukens?

2. You just have to charge back as you are doing a few nomral moves then execute the charge move at the end.

3. As far as i know, there are no shortcuts to the zigzag ultra but its not very hard once you learn to execute it.

1. How do I defend against quick opponents like Ryu, Chun Li or Fei Long? Say what you want asbout Shotos but they are quick and they can smell blood.

2. Combos are tricky enough with non charge characters but how do excute them with characters?

3. There are some that requie me to zig zag my joysdtick, like charge then press the buttons oging northwest then punch? Any shorter way to execute this? As I can handle forwards, backwards, up and down but zig zagging is a tricky beast.
