Weekly Coin Picks - Week of July 4th, 2011

As of today there are over 41,000 coins listed for sale on collectors Corner with a declared value at $73,219,631.

This week we will be featuring 6 great coins.

1. The first coin of the day comes from Liberty Coins. This is a LUSTROUS, CLEAN FROSTY SURFACE, and SHARP STRIKE 1903 Liberty Nickel graded MS65 by NGC.

2. The next coin is featured from John B. Hamrick. This 1879-S $1 Reverse of 1878 MS65 PCGS is one of the super scarce dates in gem condition in the Morgan dollar series. PCGS has graded only 47 MS65's and 2 MS66's. That is it!!! Considering that there are thousands of serious high end Morgan collectors, this is not many coins to go around. The present example is totally brilliant white in color with glowing cartwheel luster. It does not appear to have ever been dipped. The strike is strong, the surfaces clean except for the smallest of marks. There is a very small grease by the 3 star to the right of the next that doesn't bother me, and it didn't bother John Albanese either because he still blessed the coin with the CAC "Green Bean" sticker. Excellent eye appeal and nice.

3. McCAIN NUMISMATICS listed this very scarce 1796 $1 Small Date, Sm Letters PCGS VF25 PCGS. The Small Date and Small Letters combination is extremely rare, and is the scarcest among the three 1796 varieties. This coin is a completely original piece with just plain honest wear. It has the look you want to see in a circulated coin with NO heavy hits, dings, scrapes, or other marks that could be potentially distracting to the eye.

4. One of the scarce dates of the Nineteenth Century, this 1901-S $1 MS64+ PCGS is rarely found this nice and seldom finer. This Bright white and lustrous, with attractive surfaces and a good strike was listed by Larry Shapiro Rare Coins.

5. Collectible Coin and Currency listed this 1878-CC Morgan Dollar graded MS65 by PCGS. This coin is white with no toning. Fields very clean!! The coin is bright white. A GEM coin to add to your collection.

6. Our final pick of the day is from Northeast Numismatics this Oregon 1937-D Silver Commem NGC MS68 is Superb and an original gem with Immaculate surfaces!
