Our christmas light display for 2009: "Good King Joy" by the Trans-Siberian Orchestra.
The display is fully computer controlled and synchronized to music. We have over 100,000 lights, on 384 individually controllable channels. All the music synchronization is done by hand, and it takes about 10 hours per minute of music -- so this song took about 30 hours to do!
The music is played on speakers for viewers, but also broadcast over low-power FM (on 91.7 FM) so people can tune their car radios to it.
This year, we're raising money for the Royal Children's Hospital Foundation, who work wonders for sick children. If you'd like to make a donation, we've put a collection box out the front of our display for anyone that's enjoyed the show.
Thanks for watching. If you're in Brisbane and want to come see the show, you can find us on Childs Street, in Rochedale South - feel free to pop in and say Hi!
What date are you putting them up this year?

@onegodoneloveoneway -- I hope to have them going by the start of december. That's if I can all get it done in time -- I've been working at it for the last 6 months, being new hardware, lights, etc., and I'm not even sure if I'll get it done in time! :-)

I loved showing my 1 year old! He was even dancing to the songs!
(If you are ever in search for more Christmas rock songs, the band "Relient K" sing awesome ones (especially The 12 Days Of Christmas - that's their best one!). )

@ChristmasFruit -- thanks for that! I've heard about that band -- I'll have to find some of their music and see if it would be good to put lights to. Hopefully it will be!
