She's sharp most of the time. And she pushed her voice like there was no tomorrow.

She must have had the same dressmaker as Joan Sutherland. But what the heck if you sing like that you be in you birthday suit for all I care. Miss Sutherland might objek to that :-o)

Agreed. The only thing you can look at is that Baby Jane bow on her neckline. Hideous. As usual, Varady sings wonderfully, with taste and class. She makes it seem effortless. She just needs someone to help her with her wardrobe!

The butterfly on the top of the cut in the dress looks hidious. Her sining is fist class.
SHE WAS BORN IN TRANSILVANIA-ROMANIA and studied in Romania - Academy of Music in CLUJ - with a Romanian singing teacher and then in t he Music University of BUCHAREST with outstanding soprano ARTA FLORESCU. Therefore, she is Romanian, folks, not Hungarian, and was trained in Romania. The Romanian bel canto has a long-standing tradition.

She was indeed born in Oradia, Romania. This part of Transylvania borders on Hungary and 20% of the population of Transylvania is Hungarian. Her family is Hungarian which makes her part of the minority population of Hungarians living in Romania. This is the main reason she left Romania for as a minority citizen she would never have had the career that she wanted. This is something she has stated herself. Her early training was in Cluj as you say.
