This clip is for making people aware of the kitchen waste and its effects on our environment. We are using one simple method to recycle the kitchen waste. The clip also briefly explains about this method. The method, if followed in detail and properly, will ensure that all the kitchen waste that is generated in our homes will be recycled eco friendly and in return the greenery will grow around us.
The kitchen waste mainly consist of vegetable peels, rotten fruits and vegetables, leftover portions of meat, egg shells, stale food and the excess food which we throw out. Thousand and thousand tons of food waste is generated daily all over the world. As such most of the kitchen waste is disposed by the way of landfills and along with the other waste. Uncontrolled landfills causes uneven decomposition and deterioration of kitchen waste leading to health and environmental hazards. The method which we are using, at home, is recycling of the kitchen waste by that composting method which is slightly different but more convenient than conventional composting.
Advantages :
1. Being subset of compost is the most natural way of disposing the kitchen waste.
2. No additional soil is required to be put in the pot while growing plants.
3. Builds sound root and overall structure of a plant.
4. Water retention is better than normal soil
5. Reduces water demand of plants and trees
6. Overall nutrients feed for the plants is better than other methods.
7. Normally daily kitchen waste has high water contents which discharge when decomposing begins. This discharge is nutrient rich and is readily available for plants. No chemical fertilizers are required for feeding.
8. One need not wait till the waste is converted into compost may be after 60 days and then require to add to the soil, as is done in conventional composting.
9. No additional pits or bins are required for converting the waste into compost as the conversion takes place in plant pot along with growth of a plant.
10. No daily stirring or compost mixing is required as required in conventional composting method.
11. The waste getting disposed at source itself reduces the burden of civic bodies. Even the environmental hazards and health issues, which are generated as a product of collection, transporting and disposing techniques, are also eliminated. The resources of the concerned governing bodies can be utilized for other community work. Greatly cost effective for all.

Vermi-culture/comp is MUST for the method shown in the video. This requires at start only. Without which the proper decomp of the kit waste may not happen.Culture is made by billions of microbes that digest and break down waste in to rich earthy nutrient substance which contains Nitrogen, potassium&phosphorus on which the plants grow.V-compost supplies necessary quantity of microbes. Only plain soil may not or may be in very less quantity supply necessary microbes for proper digesting of waste.
