I guess the jingle should be, "Exciting things were happening at Wickes Furniture", lol.

Things really were happening at Wickes. That year, the company was going into bankruptcy. Wickes hired Sanford Sigoloff to manage the reorganization. He later appeared in the commercials.

I had no idea about Wickes Furniture's bad times. Of course, I was too young at the time but it would make since to see Builders Emporium owned by Wickes! I quote: "We got the message, Mr Sigoloff."
