The Obama administration publicly announced Monday that it has denied immigration rights to Bradford Wells and Anthony John Makk -- a gay couple in San Francisco that has been married for seven years -- and ordered the deportation of Makk to his native Australia, according to SFGate. Makk applied for permanent residency as a spouse of a U.S. citizen when his visa expired, but he was denied, as his same-sex marriage is not federally recognized. Makk is the primary caregiver to Wells, who suffers from AIDS. The couple has lived together for 19 years and legally married in Massachusetts in 2004.

  • This couple obviously loves one another. All DOMA does is hurt those who love one another. Anthony has done everything he can to remain here legally. What sense does it make to deport someone who has legally lived here for19 years?

  • This is an horrendous and abhorrent act on the part of the Federal Government. We should start a petition drive that would allow these fine married men to remain together forever. What the fuck is this government thinking? Disallowing these men to remain together, is not only inhumane but is atrocious. What is John going to do? He will wither and die quicker than he would have if Anthony had remained. I cannot believe that this is being prosecuted to this extent. What is this? Discrimination!

  • I am from the UK and its hard to even understand why America would do this to its people. I don't get it. I am absolute denial and ignorant to this situation and I find it really sad. :( I can't understand this. This is so sad :(

  • Best Wishes!

  • This what it means to be a second-class citizen in this country. And some of us don't have the financial means to relocate to our partner's country...and...some of our partners' countries wouldn't accept us, anyway, even if we could relocate.

  • @SuchIsLifeVideos Please keep us posted on what happens.

  • This country is terrible sometimes.

  • lol blame obama for everything.
