It's a contradiction as far as our "southern heritage,” whatever that is, and how it's played out as far as the media's concerned. You know, southern anthems are nostalgic, silly songs. @rednoseroxy though it is true that you are entitled to your opinion, the video relating to the music is not entirely opinion. the song is about the trangressions of slavery and the video shows it's memory amongst modern "tolerance". so in that way regardless of opinion you are wrong, because it clearly portrays that plot to any unbiased eye. and now, I will willingly and knowingly impose my opinion upon you in the form of a fact and say-- it's a great song with an excellent video

this video supports the rape myth that socializes men into thinking that if they force a woman against her will to do something, all they have to do is overpower her to get what they want. and it socializes women to fight against the man but eventually give in. :( speak out against rape! :)

This song is so sad and beautiful. Sam Beam is a genius. If you like this, you should check out ''Fragile Bones(Feels Like Home) by Ali Murray, or anything by Ali Murray for that matter. It's like beautiful acoustic music with dark surreal atmospheres. In my opinion, Beam and Murray are 2 of the best songwriters in the world right now.

Couldn't understand what the fuck he was saying so I opened up another window and read the lyrics as I listened to the song...

I'm not denying that it beats Justin Beiber but I don't see what all the hype is...

I see nor understand any connection between the words, the music and the video. Pretty much sucks to me besides being relaxing harmonious backround noise. No big deal here.
