SPEED is being blamed for a two car crash that claimed the lives of four people in Melbourne's outer south east overnight.
Two girls, aged 13 and 16, and a 19-year-old man died in one car, while an 18-year-old man in a second vehicle was also killed.
An 18-year-old man, a passenger in the Commodore, died on the way to hospital.
A man aged 19 or 20 was rushed to The Alfred hospital but later died in the operating theatre.
Five other people, all aged in their teens or 20s, were injured in the crash, and rushed to different hospitals in Melbourne..
The crash happened around 1.20am when a black Holden Commodore containing five people collided with a while Holden Statesman with four occupants near the corner of Ormond Rd and Hallam Rd in Lynbrook.
It is believed the occupants of the Commodore were returning from a party when the fatal collision happened.
The 19-year-old driver of the Commodore was among the dead.
