  • im thinking about joining CAP. im wondering though, is it just a one day a week thing? are you really going to get that much out of it when you dont do it that often? and what is there for physical fitness? im 16 and want to pilot. will this help?

  • Typically squadrons meet one night a week for 2.5 hours, and there is usually one or two weekend activities going on each month, but it varies with the unit. You really get out of CAP what you put into it. If you work hard and stay active it can be very beneficial in multiple ways, but if you can only show up once in a while, you are probably not going to get that much out of it.

  • All Cadets are required to participate in physical fitness (my squadron PTs once a month) and are required to pass a physical fitness test to promote up the ranks. The test requirements are not that difficult, but they will make you work if you aren't real athletic. But they are not out of reach.

  • If you are interested in being a pilot CAP can really help you out. All cadets are entitled to what are called Orientation Flights, each cadet gets 5 in a powered aircraft, and 5 in a glider. They are pretty much flight lessons, to get you started and to get you interested in aviation. On top of that some wings hold what are called Flight Encampments, which are week or so long programs that usually get cadets to their solo flight, and National Flight Academy, which does basically the same thing.

  • One more year in june i will join i have whanted to go into CAP from the time i was 8 to now

  • CAP is a great organization, I cannot begin to describe the benefits CAP has provided to me.

Good Luck, drop a line when (if) you get your Spaatz! You'll learn what I mean when you join.

  • @c000ch5130 Have you joined it yet?

  • You would take the last scene from the old video. SER-FL-104 is where it's at. When there's only 12 Florida honor cords given in a year and to get five in one squadron its beast.

  • @ben191209 Sort of. Squadrons do get sent on search and rescue and other Emergency Services types of missions. Senior Members are allowed to fly drug-busting missions and oversee all Cadet missions.

If by carry you mean guns then no, except for the rifles used in color guard.

BTW irregardless is a double negative; just use regardless.

    Take care.

  • I am 11 years old, and want to go into the Air Force, but first i will certainly join the Civil Air Patrol. Do they get sent off into missions like the military? That would be very cool. And do you acctually get to carry? Irregardless i am still going to join!

  • @ClancD CAP is a awesome thing and my squadron has PT 2 out of 4 meeting.
