mpg with this arrangement?

@86chevy A. The smog police care, as well as the exhaust shop not wanting to be slapped with a fine. B. I didn't have access to a welder at the time. C. Because of A and B I didn't have much choice. Besides I doubt I would have gained much, if anything with a gutted cat as opposed to a high flow cat. Not on a 2.8 liter anyways.
-
@meangreen69Nova A- who cares if its illegal, once its welded up they cant see in there and there not gunna cut it open to check B- weld it yourself and save money and not have to worry about some hippie epa bs C- i dont let signs tell me what to do
-
i have a 4.3 looking to save up to switch out for gibson exhaust and probably a magnaflow catalyc converter like you said, its not really worth the risk of the fine for an extra $200
-
Because it's illegal, and most exhaust shops don't let you just gut the cat before they weld up the new exhaust. Plus if the exhaust shop saw it was gutted they'd end up replacing it anyways...for all they know I might be an undercover EPA inspector seeing if they're going to fix it correctly or let it roll out of the shop as a polluter. It's not worth a $10k + fine to the exhaust shop, especially when there's a sign posted that says 'don't ask us to remove or gut your catalytic converter',
-
Why didnt you just gut out the cat instead of buying a high flow, not tring to sound like a dick or anyting i just wanna know your reasoning.
