Ron Paul Drums Up Support At Local Rally
PHILADELPHIA (CBS 3) ― In the race for the White House one of the hottest names in politics, Ron Paul brought his upstart campaign to the region. Saturday's rally proves he may be trailing in the polls but he cannot be ignored.

They call it the Ron Paul revolution and on Saturday it came to Philadelphia.

Enthusiastic supporters flooded Independence Mall to see the ten-term Texas congressman who is running for the Republican presidential nomination is fueled by online support.

"It has been said that there were two or three dozens spammers running the campaign and it looks like there's a lot more," Congressman Ron Paul said.

Paul attracted attention after raising a record $4 million in one day through online donations.

His message, which draws support from across the political spectrum, includes a passionate defense of civil liberties, a vow to abolish the tax code and a fierce opposition to war.

"Bring our troops home now," Paul said.

Paul has come under fire for calling the war on terrorism "fictitious" and for saying the 9/11 attacks were a response to U.S. foreign policy ideas he repeated on Saturday.

"Those individuals who would come here and do us harm have hatred in their hearts. but let me tell you they don't hate us because we are free and prosperous. That is not the reason. If we don't understand that we cannot solve our problem," Paul said.

But with an expanding war chest and adoring crowds the 72-year-old grandfather can relish his status as a political maverick.

He said he is the one to shake things up.

"Everybody's fighting over a piece of the pie in Washington. We stand for exactly the opposite," Paul said.

Current polls have Paul drawing support from a little more than three percent of Republicans.

I believe that the campaign has said that they will NOT be excluded from the December 4th debate now that he is polling 5%. And as Dillon said, even if they do, the counter protest would be so massive, it would bring A LOT of national attention, so either way.. he will make a presence.

Don't be fooled by the polls the mainstream media use. Most are old and poll only a few registered Republicans.

Ron Paul's support is coming from all parties and all walks of life.

They'll always mention 2-3% in "major" polls, but they fail to mention that he's won almost EVERY post debate text poll for the televised debates. Be fair, list all statistics.
