President Rajapaksa receives a warm welcome in Nepal. Our Representative Surendra Abeypala said he was accorded a rousing welcome at the Thribuvaan Airport.
The President and his entourage visiting Nepal on a three-day official tour arrived at the Thribuvaan International Airport at around 1.30 this afternoon. They were accorded a warm welcome by the Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sujatha Koirala and Parliamentary and Cultural Affairs Minister Dr. Minendra Rijal. The welcoming ceremony included a Military Guard-Of-Honour to the President.
The President will patronise in the opening of the Sri Lanka Maha Vihare in Lumbini tomorrow. During his stay in Nepal, the President is due to hold talks with his Nepalese counterpart Dr. Ram Baran Yadav, Prime Minister Madhav Kumar and other top political leaders. The delegation comprises First Lady Shiranthi Rajapaksa, Ministers Nimal Siripala De Silva, Rohitha Bogollagama, Tissa Karaliyadde and Mervyn Silva, Presidents Additional Secretary Gamini Senerath and Presidents International Affairs Coordinating Secretary Sajin Vaas Gunawardena.
