  • Anyone out there got the TV commercial that was done for this album? I don't think I've ever seen it but I read about it once in a book on the history of music videos.

  • @Kohntarkosz Sure! It's easy to find, just type it in in the search interface located above!

  • I love the captain, wish there was more from this era though

  • Thanks for posting this. An obvious masterpiece, although of which type of music, I really couldn't say. One is tempted to be profound with this song, but I prefer to simply enjoy it. I like the good Captain, of course, but the Magic Bands of Trout Mask Replica and LMDOB were sublime as well. Bill Harkleroad (aka Zoot Horn Rollo) was a truly gifted and original guitarist. Still, it's a travesty that Beefheart is still not in the R&R HOF.

  • Zoot definately was an underated beast at guitar. If he had gone with any other band at the time, he would probaly be way more well known. Beefhearts work had to be done by someone though.

  • @jfrankley55 Fuck the R&R HOF. It is a bullshit publicity con and does not a mean a DAMN thing !! look at who has been inducted and who hasn't and that should tell you its politics.

  • The bass playing is also pretty stunning on this.

  • "Lick My Decals Off Baby" is my favourite Beefheart album, it's even better than TMP (which is absolutely brilliant too, but seems to be a bit monotonous). Amazing tunes.

  • It's a shame that this album isn't more well known. It really is a fine companion piece to the madness of the 'Trout'.

  • IMHO, if you don't think the R&R Hall of Fame is a piss stain, consider this. This one masterpiece is more original, compelling and simply rocks more than anything Dr. John or Tom Waits has ever done or ever will do. My question is simply if these guys are now in (and don't get me wrong, I admire Mac Rebenack very much), why isn't the real thing?

  • Weird. When I tried searching before, I couldn't find it. I guess you have to be careful with the keywords you enter. ;-)

  • Brilliant stuff, long live rebel musicians. There's a great solo guitar ditty dedicated to the Captain by Ian Staples, on you tube well worth a listen.
