Well the only way I could get the Dolby Home Theater, EQ, and Bass Management hardware toggles to work on the HP HDX was to load Windows Vista with the Vista 64 bit drivers from the HP website. It seems to be working fine now and all the features I wanted are now available but at the expense of not running XP. This is not good news to people who have custom built software that runs on XP not to mention XP smaller memory footprint and generally less system overhead we all are used to. I would like to hear from other HP HDX owners experience with this notebook.

  • It was on the internet radio... but I do enjoy GnR and the Cars ;)

  • HP HDX 18 premium is better

  • Thanks, you sir are a genius!

  • i am in the middle of trying to put xp on my HDX 16

I hope there are drivers for most of the hardware

  • If you are going with XP... You won't be able to use the HD features of your audio. I noticed that most of the drivers for XP can be found except for the audio stuff. Try the HP site... I have heard that you can use the Vista 32 drivers on XP. I moved to vista and now all my features and gizmos work properly. Windows 7 is coming out soon and should correct many of the quirks of Vista.

  • If you probe your hardware with everest and grab the audio hardware codec id you can find out what chip is in your system and then grab the datasheet off google. These are interesting to read as they detail more about the hardware abilities than the drivers themselves which seem to remain incomplete in terms of unlocking some of the hidden hardware features of these chips
