i am in the middle of trying to put xp on my HDX 16
I hope there are drivers for most of the hardware

If you are going with XP... You won't be able to use the HD features of your audio. I noticed that most of the drivers for XP can be found except for the audio stuff. Try the HP site... I have heard that you can use the Vista 32 drivers on XP. I moved to vista and now all my features and gizmos work properly. Windows 7 is coming out soon and should correct many of the quirks of Vista.

If you probe your hardware with everest and grab the audio hardware codec id you can find out what chip is in your system and then grab the datasheet off google. These are interesting to read as they detail more about the hardware abilities than the drivers themselves which seem to remain incomplete in terms of unlocking some of the hidden hardware features of these chips
