I agree completely with many of the comments here that Monster was hugely underrated. Wasn't it said at one point that it was written in response to Cobain's death? Well either way, great record. It also warms my heart to see Bill Berry. When he left the band you could feel the absence, in my opinion.

i think monster is very under rated. a lot of people go on how they went down hill as soon as signed for WB but i think the run of automatic, monster, new adventures and up was their best run. All were totally different sounding records but each fantastic. although id say murmur is my fav id take these albums over any other IRS record.

@andyowl76 I have been a fan of R.E.M. since Reckoning. I bought it when it came out because my local radio station played Pretty Persusasion. I was one of those who poo-pooed Monster. I have finally begun to get into this excellent album. I think now that they have called it quits this album will be re-evaluated as better than most remember. I think it was such a departure from Out of time and Automatic. In any case this is one of my fav's from the album. And great promo vid as well ...as if..

Love this song, Monster was a great album but under rated by so called music critics.

This reminds me of high school in 1994. Being a nerd who kept to himself and being both envious of my friend who was sexually active and at the same time spin-tinglingly disgusted by the various horrible girls he was sexually active with.
